It varies depending on the Tour but typically 4 – 10 riders. For the best ride experience, we prefer to keep your group together, whether its 2 or 20. We do combine singles and smaller groups if they match the same date/time and expectations. Private (solo) tours are welcome, please call for details & pricing. We also plan & customize Business or Personal event tours of any size.
For each rider our standard Tour package includes: a proper-sized bike, helmet, water, Cliff bar and trained/knowledgeable local guide. Your guide will explain local riding rules, safety guidelines and an overview of your tour. Guides also provide mechanical support and tips on riding technique so you enjoy the Tour and improve your skills.
You can bring your own snacks / energy bars if you prefer or if you have dietary considerations. We recommend riders use our well maintained rental bikes but you can use your own bike as long as its in good working condition and will not require repairs that will impede the group.
No, we offer Easy, Intermediate or Advanced tours to match your groups fitness & skill level. We are always assessing and adjusting on the fly to make sure riders are comfortable, a bit challenged and having fun. Well stop as needed for water breaks, photo opportunities or just to take in the beautiful scenery.
Generally, cycling or workout apparel are well suited and basic layers are recommended as weather changes over the course of a tour. Usually shorts, t-shirt and running shoes are fine if the weather is warm and clear. We highly recommend bringing a small day-pack for: a nylon shell, long sleeve top, camera, extra water etc.
Helmets are required on all tours and are included with bike rentals. So you don’t have to pack your helmet on a flight we provide extra helmets as needed. If you really prefer you can bring your helmet, cycling shoes (w/matching pedals) or other gear. Well do our best to quickly change-out pedals before a tour and make sure you go home with them. But give us enough notice to make sure what you bring will fit the rental bike as not all parts are standardized.
We prepare in every way to insure your safety and comfort. Our guides really know the trails/roads and we know how to match your groups skill and risk level with the best routes. Guides have training ranging from Basic First Aid/CPR to Wilderness First Aid.
However bicycle riding, like most sports activities, has risks that we cannot completely control.?? For your peace of mind BBT recommends riders have their own medical / accident insurance.
Yes. Each rider over 18 must sign a waiver and an adult must sign for each minor. To save time starting your ride please download waiver *here*, sign & date and bring to your Tour. Guides carry extra waivers to sign at the start of each tour.
Yes, we welcome kids on Tours we consider appropriate as long as parents understand and accept the basic risks associated with bicycling. We can provide kid-sized bikes, Burley trailers, trail-a-bikes and tandem bikes.
Coverage for rentals is included for normal wear & tear damage. That takes care of flats, bent wheels, broken chains and most other issues that would happen on an average tour. For stolen/totaled rental bikes the rider is responsible for its replacement value.
Tours are conducted rain or shine. In case of extreme weather or unsafe surface conditions Boulder Bike Tours reserves the right to cancel tours and refund deposits (25% of the tour total). Cancellations by customer will result in forfeit of deposits.
In order to insure the date/time you prefer its beneficial to book as soon as you know the approximate number in your party and the tour that suits you. However, we always try to accommodate short notice requests whenever possible. Sometimes there’s availability a day or two out or even same day if there are cancellations and you call early.
We know the local area hotels, motels, B&Bs and AirBNBs/VRBOs. We can recommend lodging to fit your style / budget or for your convenience make reservations and include lodging in a package.
